Today we headed into Florence and immediately fell in love with the area around Duomo

We had prebooked tickets for David so after seeing the queues for the tower and Duomo ordered our tickets for those attractions for Sunday to skip the queue. Quick trip to the train station to get our tickets for Siena tomorrow and more ice cream to keep the kids going

 

Then off to see David. I thought it would be overrated but was very impressed with its size and fine detail. 

We went to the hands on Leonardo museum and then walked round to the shops on the bridge and to the square where David originally stood

By this time the kids were getting hungry so took the opportunity to take them to their first ever Hard Rock Cafe.

Food was quite good and the atmosphere was great. Robert declared that this is now his favourite restaurant. Big statement from a boy who almost hourly tells us he is thinking about food. Headed back to the van after dinner

Tomorrow we have a tour guide taking us around Siena during the first day of the Palio
