Day 22 – Rome to Lake Garda

Quick shopping trip and then refuelled the van before leaving Rome.

Good drive from Rome to Lake Garda with no traffic problems and arrived in 5 hours at 3pm despite the satnav taking me off and back on the same motorway at one point. Expensive toll at over 40€ but at least was an easy drive. I think we have been fairly lucky woth traffic with the only jam being between Europa Park and Fussen early on the roadtrip.

We have a nice spot next to an earlier edition of our van and just 3 rows back from the lake which is good as we didn’t have anything prebooked. Most sites say just turn up after 2pm and will find space for you somewhere. The first few rows are permanently owned by people who come every year. We had a look round the campsite and then with Hannah’s lip still recovering decided to go swimming in the lake rather than the pool as the lake as a waist high platform in the lake stretching right out. Also spotted a lady walking her dog on the lake?!

Robert spotted a diving platform at the end of the harbour so we jumped off that and swam back to the beach. Toughest swim he had ever done he said.

Plan for tomorrow is to go to Gardaland via a walk around the lake. Park opens at 10am and closes at 11pm and both kids very excited.
